There is nothing wrong with either of these but CBD oil, by definition, is a liquid and as such it is at risk of spillage. This is frustrating at the best of times and arguably even more so when dealing with something as expensive as CBD oil.
CBD pills will not spill, but they do not allow for much flexibility in the dosage used. The solution is to use CBD concentrates, of which the most popular is CBD hash.
If you know about nutrition then you may be aware that eating fruit and vegetables in their natural state is far healthier than consuming them in drinks such as smoothies.
The reason is that the plant matter in fruit and vegetables often has great nutritional value; in particular, it’s a good source of fibre. The complete opposite is true of cannabis.
With cannabis only the cannabinoid content has value, in this case the CBD. The plant matter, from a nutritional perspective, is just waste (although it can make good compost). This means that you can store a lot of CBD goodness in a relatively small space by converting your raw hemp into a CBD concentrate.

CBD hash is by far the most popular of the CBD concentrates, probably because it is so simple to produce. Basically, you just rub the crystals off your hemp buds and compress them. That’s it.
How to use CBD Hash
You can use CBD hash in all kinds of ways, including smoking and vaping, cooking or in cannabis topicals.
Smoking CBD Hash
The first point you need to remember is that CBD hash is a whole lot more potent than bud (hence the term cannabis concentrate), so a little goes a very long way.
That being so, you want to put a heat source under a small part of your CBD hash and take short puffs, rather than trying to light it and let it burn as you smoke, which, quite frankly, would be a painful waste of CBD hash.
Remember the old advice about starting low and going slow. Let each puff have time to do its work before you decide whether or not you need another. You may find yourself quite surprised just how little CBD hash you need.
Vaping CBD Hash
These days, vaping is probably more popular than smoking in all contexts, given that smoke itself carries health hazards (as well as fire hazards).
If you want to vape then you will of course, need a vaporizer, sometimes known as an e-cigarette. These come at various price points, but if you’re going to be using CBD hash on a regular basis, then it’s worth investing in a good one.
It’s also worth investing in good CBD hash because you want to be sure that it will be free of any contaminants which could damage the vaporizer in which you’ve just invested. Ideally, you want to use powdery CBD hash (also known as pollen CBD hash) rather than the sticky sort. This is purely for convenience.
Basically the stickier the CBD hash is, the harder it is to cut and you’re going to want your CBD hash chopped as finely as you can manage to encourage an even vape. You definitely want to chop rather than “fluff” your CBD hash by burning it a little as burning releases the CBD content before you’re ready for it.
Heat of any sort also turns CBD hash into a gooey mess so protect your vaporizer with degummed hemp pads. Do not waste your time with the “concentrate” or “liquid pads” which come with some vaporizers.
CBD hash will just destroy them and may take your vaporizer along with it. Degummed hemp pads are very affordable and will do the job nicely.
How to cook with CBD Hash
The first key point here is that prior to cooking with CBD hash, you need to heat it to 110–116°C for an hour, this is known as decarboxylation.
The second key point here is that dosing cannabis edibles is notoriously tricky until you get the hang of it. It usually gets easier with practice.
There are two golden rules to follow.
Different foods will give CBD Hash different speeds of release
Firstly, remember that the speed with which you will feel the effect of the CBD hash will depend on the speed with which your body metabolizes the food in which it is contained. For example, if you use your CBD hash to make a smoothie, then you will feel its effect more quickly than if you use it to create macaroni cheese.
Choose the correct dosage
Secondly, when you’re working out the right dose for you, it’s important to ensure that your points of comparison are accurate. For example, if you find the perfect dose for a smoothie, then the same dose may be fine for a bowl of soup, but it’s not going to be enough for a plateful of macaroni cheese.
Similarly, if you find the perfect dose for a plateful of macaroni cheese, it may be fine for a serving of lasagna, but it will be way too much for a smoothie or a bowl of soup. As always, start low and go slow, adjust your doses upwards a little at a time as necessary until you get it right.
Using CBD Hash in cannabis topicals
CBD topicals are often used to treat pain caused by injuries rather than chronic medical conditions. When using CBD hash this way, it can be useful to remember that CBD topicals are a mixture of CBD hash and a carrier substance, like an oil, a cream or a gel.
Both parts of the treatment serve a useful purpose, so it’s recommended to spend some time thinking about which specific carrier substance would be most appropriate for your situation.
If you’re interested in using CBD hash with essential oils, then it’s strongly recommended to take professional advice to make sure that you use the right combination of essential oils as they are also very powerful medical treatments.
